The ongoing vivid advance in integration technologies is giving leverage both to computing systems as well sensors and sensor systems. Both conventional innovative systems, e.g., following bio-inspiration from nervous or neural networks, require efficient interfacing an increasing diversity of under the constraints metrology. realization sufficiently accurate, robust, flexible analog front-ends (AFE) decisive for overall application system quality requires substantial design expertise cells System-on-Chip (SoC) chips System-in-Package (SiP) realizations. Adding robustness flexibility sensory Industry 4.0., by self-X self-* features, self-monitoring, -trimming, -healing (AFEX) approaches capabilities met living beings pursued our research. This paper summarizes on two chips, denoted Universal-Sensor-Interface-with-self-X-properties (USIX) based amplitude representation reports recently identified challenges corresponding advanced solutions, circuit assessment observer classic amplitude-based AFE, transition activities spike domain spiking-analog-front-ends with properties (SAFEX) adaptive spiking electronics next evolutionary step AFE development.
